Fire Trucks and Boys

Big Red Fire Truck
Listening and asking questions....

Trying on a firefighters jacket...

Getting ready to go for a ride in the fire truck!

On Sunday, Kyle and Bob brought the fire truck out to our church and the Humphrey boys were able to tour the truck, take a ride in it, put on firefighter gear and ask questions.
We all learned about fire trucks and what fire fighters do every day. We also learned about the different tools that are on a fire truck and the boys got to spray water out of one of the hoses on the truck. Then they got to go for a ride in the truck!

Owl Tote Bag

Colorful Owl Tote Bag
I was looking through an American Girl magazine and came accross this tote bag project. I purchased a lime green tote bag, black fabric paint, and fabric glue. I have a large amount of felt scrap pieces, so I used them to make the owl. I used light blue, yellow, light pink and light purple felt. I used different colors of glitter fabric paint on the tips of the owl's feathers.

Tea Pot

My father and I purchased this tea pot at the Flower Gallerie. I liked this multi colored tea pot because it has sunflowers and a bee on it. The lid has a bee sitting on a sunflower. The tea pot saucer is a yellow sunflower.

Slippers

Warm, comfy slippers
Here is a pair of slippers that I made using a pattern out of the Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle book by Tilda. I made yo-yo's to decorate them!

Winter Hat

Hannah's Winter Hat
I purchased pink, blue, and yellow felt at Walmart. I made this hat to match my pink gloves and scarf that I made last week. I got the pattern out of the Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle book.

Ma's Needlebook

inside of book
outside of book

Lydia let me borrow two books. My Little House Sewing Book by Margaret Irwin has a collection of 8 projects from Laura Ingalls Wilder's Classic Stories. Using sewing and ribbon scraps, I made this needlebook.
My Little House Crafts Book by Carolyn Strom Collins & Christina Wyss Eriksson. This book has 18 projects from Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House Stories.
My mother looked for the books on Ebay, but they wanted alot of money for them. Amazon.com has these books for less and you can get them in used or new condition.

Mittens

Mittens
On Saturday, while everyone was watching football, I decided to make some mittens for winter.
I found the pattern in Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle by Tilda. The pattern and instructions are located in the book. I bought my book at Jo-Ann's Fabric. These are made out of soft pink felt. You can embellish them with buttons, fabric, yo-yos, embroidery designs, etc.

Prairie Bonnet

Back View

I enjoy reading the Little House on the Prairie series and I found a pattern for a bonnet. The pattern I used was Simplicity #3723, item A. I made a long, white apron out of this pattern
(item b) and I will wear it with a ladies pilgrim style dress.
Happy Sewing!
